PC cofiguration : Be wise in your configuration

Whats the best and cheapest way to increase satisfaction level of any computer user?

Many think providing higher configuration system, the latest in the market will make end user happy.. end users also think the very same for most of the time...but it's not true always..

how many of us need the highest configuration.. rarely few... and if used and configured intelligently, you can experience the difference..

Intelligent selection of hardware and software both decide the overall experience. So lets talk of the hardware first...

RAM : More than anything else, you should have this the most. In most of the companies I have noticed this strange thing.. If you are working on XP you will be provided 512 MB of RAM, and if on VISTA you will be working with 1 GB of RAM.. because this is what most systems today come equipped with.. Any wise user will suggest of doubling it i.e. 1 GB with XP and min 2 GB with Vista and so on..if you can upgrade to more, always the merrier :-) and the price isn't too high nowadays..so always make a plan of upgrading to higher RAM's and it should be more.. RAM impacts your performance the most ..

Keyboard and Mouse : Whatever your configuration, you can't be working on your system longer without having a good set of Mouse and Keyboard. Many will go with features, which isn't good always. Never compromise on this front and don't save here..yes don't save here. Ever tried typing with a good and bad keyboard, and what effect it has on your experience..now you can understand why I am stressing on this aspect.. And do you know when BALL mouse should be preferred, and when you should go for OPTICAL mouse. Most of the time OPTICAL will suit your needs, but in some cases BALL mouse is the best choice...

The above two affects the most, and it doesn't cost that much considering the PC's overall cost. So be wise while deciding configuring of your system, and upgrade it with better options.

About software, I will just like to throw some light on Antivirus installed in the computer.

Antivirus : Most of the time we don't go by our need, we go by the name. You will go for McAfee, Norton and other big names. My simple question is why don't you prefer Quickheal or AVG or some other ones ?? Have you ever considered how much resource your antivirus requires and is it that worth ? Most of the times we aren't wise here too.

===================

And in the end, a little bit of common sense can make your system and your experience a lot to rejoice about.
