Politicians... : should minimum education be made compulsory ?

Many times I have heard people discussing that there should be some rule which lays down minimum qualification for politicians. What I fail to understand what they mean by qualification.. is it a degree which we get from school or colleges ? if that is so I will say a big NO to any of this type of process. I would like our MP's to be educated but more than that I would like them to be human. And I don't think having any degree makes us more human.

I would not like to ask many questions..just some very basic ones..

1) I have seen some accident cases on roads, hardly anyone passing by helps. And I haven't seen any of the so called educated peoples stop their cars and help them. If education can't teach us this, what use is it. And how many of us use education to EARN MONEY instead of EARNING HUMANITY. And if that is the case, why do you want to make education the foremost criteria. Because we can't think ahead of this ! On the contrary I have seen some less educated peoples coming to the help of those. What a irony, they are uneducated and we are educated ! Or is it the other way !

2) Why do we make selection in helping the helpless.. this I have seen a lot of times and this again is a practice followed by the so called educated mass.

3) Politics require courage...some steps to take which isn't profitable always... which lacks in the so called educated mass.

4) How many of us (educated mass) have tried to give something worthful to the society..nowadays we feel hard to give to our blood relations, society is a long ask. Now please don't tell me you work for some NGO...give me a break .

Now you may say I am in support of politicians, well I only want to say, they are too from our society. They reflect what we are, they aren't any different from us !

And the next time when you try to glamorise education (which is concerned with getting marks only), think for a moment! It should be more than that...

.. I haven't made any statement above, but the trend is disturbing...

Nuclear Deal : Is it all about the deal ?

Its less than 12 hrs to go for "No Confidence Motion" against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. This motion is brought courtesy LEFT , which is hardly right when our country is of concern.

The last 7 days has made me think..is it all about Nuclear Deal? I don't think so. Everybody is worried about his/her future. No one is concerned about the country. Its pity how much we have stooped..

I am no supporter of Congress, but on this front I won't like the government to fall.

Left is a party with whom no national party should tie up. I wonder with whom their loyalty lies !

And it pains when some politicians say that they have taken this or that decision after studying nuclear deal. Its a big lie, and they should have courage to tell the truth.

And what pains more is that, on a NATIONAL ISSUE a decision should be made on consensus, not from a vote difference of less than 5 votes !

Anyone who aligns with the CPI's is bound to pay the price sooner or later. What use is it to have such a partner?

Bus Rapid Transport System (BRTS)

Pune is facing traffic issues and the infrastructure here isn't sufficient. To solve this issue to some extent various studies were done and after spending crores of rupees they came up with various plans. One among those was BRTS. I saw how they reserved a seperate lane for the buses. I was sceptical of its success from the day I saw the roads on which a lane was reserved. How can they make such a mistake if a common man can understand that its not going to work. Theory and practical are two different things. All things which look working on paper sometimes fail terrribly when put on practice. Some of my views...

BRTS was a good idea. But it was to fail because

1) The roads weren't wide enough to allow a seperate lane for buses. This led to increase in chaos. And marking a seperate road, involved freezing few inches of already scarce roads width. They did try to increase the width, but it wasn't sufficient. The ideal would have been to have seperate lanes for heavy vehicles, light vehicles and very light vehicles, but this is quite a impossible task as this will require freeing space near road, which looks a distant realy in near future.

2) Reserving seperate lane only for Government Buses : This was I think a terrible decision to make. Just imagine, one lane is reserved for government run buses, and on the other lane private buses, trucks, jeeps, cars, bikes.. will move. This will bring more chaos naturally. Now they have allowed private buses too, my simple query is...how can you commit such a gross error ?

3) Stress on Infrastrucure only : Wheneve we think of solving a problem, we try to bring more money. So naturally they thought of running lots of development plans. Its good that we are expanding infrastructure, but we should also ask a question : are we utilising what we have to the fullest ? We need to put to best use with what we have. Traffic today is badly managed, which needs a lot of improvement. And believe me, solving this to a large extent not always needs Flyovers, wide roads, etc . We should apply our logic when we think of solving problems.

4) Blindly following the plans : We blindly accept what big consultation firms propose. And this is the practice throughout the country. I don't think they know the exact ground conditions. Showing the action plan with figures, graphs looks promising..but we need to test those too.

5) More Stress should be on Managing people : We need to train our countrymen on driving habits. we are terrible on this. Saying that we don't have enough people to enforce this effectively. I only want to say, can you not make a zone, say of just 2km square, an ideal traffic rule zone. Enforce the law with 100% seriousness, you never know what small steps can do.

So from next time we should apply plain logic when selecting schemes. Just because it has come from a big firm, we shouldn't doubt our acumen.

Product Development : Unforseen challenges

Developing a PRODUCT is a very big challenge. A challege which can break you to pieces. There are lots and lots of hurdles. This is what I can say about this

1) Product development can't happen in 9 to 6 schedule : Yes, because its not a task, which is assigned to you. Lots of unforseen things are there. There are days when you can't work, there are days when you don't get tired even after working endlessly...

2) You can't buy a product : Had it been so easy, anyone would have hired some really good guys, paid them good for a year. And after that, walk away with a good product. Its definitely not like that.

3) Product development is all about Zeal : Yes ZEAL is what keeps you going. And this plays the most important role.

4) Its all about problem solving skill : Without this you can't proceed. Sooner or later you need to develop this.

5) Its more about doing things simple : We do the contrary. I don't know why we tend to think this way. And if you are going to solve lots of problem in a difficult way, then its better to leave the development, because you are treading on the wrong path.

6) Believe in your product : Because if you don't, no one will.

7) Never loose the spirit of development : 100 ideas bring 10 working ideas...which in turn bring 1 working product. And you need to work for all the 100. Strange but true.

8) Pinpoint exact reason why you failed earlier : If you try something new, you will fail and failing is not bad, but failing the same way isn't good either.

9) Its all about ATTITUDE : And this attitude isn't the one most HR's look for. I wonder how can they relate attitude with MARKS, some PRE LEARNT QUESTIONS, PRE LEARNT QUESTIONS and PRE LEARNT QUESTIONS. If you really want to test someone's skill, ask a simple question and hear what he answers, and then test his depth of understanding. Depth of UNDERSTANDING is rarely interpreted. Never ask a difficult question.

And if you are not in development..cheer up... its not for you guys :-)
