Product Development : Unforseen challenges

Developing a PRODUCT is a very big challenge. A challege which can break you to pieces. There are lots and lots of hurdles. This is what I can say about this

1) Product development can't happen in 9 to 6 schedule : Yes, because its not a task, which is assigned to you. Lots of unforseen things are there. There are days when you can't work, there are days when you don't get tired even after working endlessly...

2) You can't buy a product : Had it been so easy, anyone would have hired some really good guys, paid them good for a year. And after that, walk away with a good product. Its definitely not like that.

3) Product development is all about Zeal : Yes ZEAL is what keeps you going. And this plays the most important role.

4) Its all about problem solving skill : Without this you can't proceed. Sooner or later you need to develop this.

5) Its more about doing things simple : We do the contrary. I don't know why we tend to think this way. And if you are going to solve lots of problem in a difficult way, then its better to leave the development, because you are treading on the wrong path.

6) Believe in your product : Because if you don't, no one will.

7) Never loose the spirit of development : 100 ideas bring 10 working ideas...which in turn bring 1 working product. And you need to work for all the 100. Strange but true.

8) Pinpoint exact reason why you failed earlier : If you try something new, you will fail and failing is not bad, but failing the same way isn't good either.

9) Its all about ATTITUDE : And this attitude isn't the one most HR's look for. I wonder how can they relate attitude with MARKS, some PRE LEARNT QUESTIONS, PRE LEARNT QUESTIONS and PRE LEARNT QUESTIONS. If you really want to test someone's skill, ask a simple question and hear what he answers, and then test his depth of understanding. Depth of UNDERSTANDING is rarely interpreted. Never ask a difficult question.

And if you are not in development..cheer up... its not for you guys :-)
*** to be contd...
