Email : how it will evolve and overload problem

Its interesting to read how many people are trying to solve Email overload. Volume of email has exploded exponentially in a short span of time. Use of email has increased so much and so fast that technology hasn't kept pace in providing solution to manage it properly. For me email is nothing but plain text of letters, notes, clippings, etc. So what I do with those I wish technology lets me do the same.

I think email will evolve in few years to some changes in response to some of the pressing needs.

1) Email may become legal in coming days. It may be legal at some places but I see much diverse use in near future.

2) I think it may be considered as a proof for many govt things too, if so I see email might have some govt monitoring, etc.

3) Email may become a govt thing for high profile persons for security reasons. Consider the magnitude of threat any govt may have if someone at high and powerful place has account in some pvt provider in some other country. Information can be leaked during crisis which may be dangerous for the security of any country.

4) Email headers needs to be revised, there are so many inconsistencies with different providers and lots of loopholes too. This needs to be plugged. I think one header that should be added is VALIDITY DATE and this should be enough information for mail servers to act upon. Many mails which don't serve any purpose can be deleted using this information.

5) I don't think facebook will replace email ever. Emails will change its purpose to some extent which will decrease its volume but it will become all the more important in its changed avatar.

now for email overload...contd...
